Volunteers of the Month (September 2018)

Riley Havela, 18

How long have you been volunteering for? I have been volunteering at Two Wolves since March 2017.
How many days do you volunteer? I volunteer on Friday nights every week but also pick up other shifts regularly.
What and where are you studying? I Study at the University of Sydney studying Aeronautical Engineering and Physics.
What are your passions? SPACE, MATHS, bartending and reading.
What do you like the most about working at the Two Wolves? I love the community and how warm and opening everyone is. It’s the people at Two Wolves that make it an absolutely amazing place to work.
How did you get to know The Two Wolves? The Cardoner Project had representatives come to my school (St Vincent’s College) when I was in year 12 and told us about Two Wolves.
Have you been on an immersion? No sadly.
What are your plans for 2018? My plan is to study hard during the semester, practice my flair bartending and read more!
Why would you recommend volunteering at The Two Wolves? Two wolves gives you hospitality experience which is essential if wanting a job in a restaurant or bar, (if I didn’t work at Two Wolves I never would have gotten my bartending job at the bucket list) but also the environment is very enjoyable and it actually makes you enjoy working. So by working at Two Wolves you’re helping out an amazing charity but having fun at the same time.

How long have you been volunteering for? I started volunteering in January!
How many days do you volunteer? I try to come in between once or twice a week.
What and where are you studying? I’m currently in year 11 at Willoughby Girls. I repeated as I went on exchange!
What are your passions? I love to volunteer! I think it is so rewarding to know that I can help others! I also love hiking and swimming. I am animal mad, and I thinks dogs are the best thing ever!! Also I really enjoy going to church with my Granny 😊.
What do you like the most about working at the Two Wolves? The sense of community. I started volunteering after I moved from Cronulla to Willoughby and had no sense of community. I have made so many friends and feel like a part of a big, crazy family! Also, the food!!!
How did you get to know The Two Wolves? I used to volunteer at a dementia aged care facility and a primary school but after I moved I had to find somewhere else. I used to drive past Two Wolves and eventually googled it and found out it was run by volunteers!
Have you been on an immersion? Not yet! I have my fingers crossed that I can go on one towards the end of next year!
What are your plans for 2018? Finish year 11! My sister and I are going on a Europe trip for Christmas, so I am counting the days until that 😊 Also, keep volunteering!
Why would you recommend volunteering at The Two Wolves? 100 percent. My friends tell me to be quiet whenever I start talking about it! I am constantly trying to get my pals to sign up!!!
